I am so grateful to @onestarfish.online for trading this glorious piece with me at @riverartsmemphis this past weekend. I’ve admired her work for 3 years and when I saw she had the original of a piece I’ve adored since the moment I saw it, I had to ask if she’d be willing to barter. I told her how it resonated with me because when I was 13 at my bat mitzvah, my parents started their speech with, “Karen doesn’t just march to the beat of her own drum, she has the whole band behind her.” Sarah even signed the back and mentioned the whole band! Shout out to Samuel and Jason at @made_makerspace for giving me the most perfect cage anyone could ask for, INCLUDING my cool custom tag from my favorite Nicholas Cage movie. It's right near the textile bay and the lasers, where I find myself lugging my heavy fabric and wood from car to here to car again. Now, I have Peter Loew to watch over my stuff!
